About Wear Your Voice

Stories that connect identity with public life.

Wear Your Voice is an independent editorial publication examining culture, politics, health, art and justice through perspectives too often pushed to the margins.

Our story

Publishing can do more than describe the world. It can make room for people to recognize their experiences, question familiar narratives and understand how systems shape everyday life.

Wear Your Voice centers reporting, personal essays and critical analysis informed by LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous and other communities of color. Our coverage moves between current affairs and culture because representation, policy, health and creative expression are closely connected.

We prioritize subjects and viewpoints that have historically received limited attention in mainstream publishing. That means treating lived experience as valuable knowledge while also providing the context readers need to understand institutions, histories and public debates.

The publication’s archive reflects changing conversations across many years. We preserve the essential subjects of earlier work while presenting sensitive material in clear, respectful language. Our aim is not simply to repeat the news cycle, but to help readers see the ideas and power structures underneath it.

Editorial principles

What guides our publishing

01 · Perspective

Center overlooked voices

We create space for experiences and analysis that conventional coverage has often minimized.

02 · Context

Connect the personal and political

Individual stories are situated within the cultural, historical and institutional forces around them.

03 · Care

Edit sensitive subjects responsibly

We retain essential facts without repeating abusive, graphic or needlessly harmful language.

04 · Clarity

Make complex ideas useful

Clear structure and direct language help readers follow arguments and continue their research.

Review the wider context

Editors distinguish documented events, analysis, personal perspective and historical background.

Edit with precision and care

Claims are clarified, arguments are structured and sensitive details are paraphrased responsibly.

Provide paths for exploration

Categories, recent reporting and archive links help readers examine related subjects.
